I will defend personal freedoms, safeguard civil liberties, and ensure Michigan remains a state where rights are respected.  As a State Police auditor, I was responsible for developing criminal justice oversight policies, and I will be a leading advocate for keeping local, state, and federal law enforcement from violating our civil rights.

 As an Air Force medical services specialist, I provided pre- and post-operative care for women having abortions, and I understand the struggle they went through in making that choice.  Reproductive healthcare is a deeply personal decision for families.  Attempts to insert the government are not about morality; it's about control.  Therefore, I will strongly defend a woman's right to choose and will fight to protect the state's constitutional right to that decision.

With decades of experience in innovation and state modernization, I will champion job growth and workforce development. I support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, apprenticeships, and internship programs in district schools that prepare students for the 21st-century job market.  I will fight to implement laws such as the Michigan High-wage Incentive for Regional Employment (HIRE) program, first proposed by Senator Sam Singh. 

Having worked as a union member for over a decade, I understand that they play a critical role in allowing employers and employees to negotiate for increased wages, better benefits, and job security.  Workers all across the 28th district deserve to form a union if they so wish. I support legislation that allows employees to form unions, lowers barriers to unionization, and holds corporations accountable for labor law violations.

I support clean energy innovation that creates jobs, lowers bills, and strengthens Michigan’s future.  I will continue to develop Michigan’s biofuels industry, including the construction of biofuel processing facilities to produce ethanol-based aviation fuel.  I will fight to protect and expand Michigan’s wind energy infrastructure, enabling this free energy source to lower Michiganders’ electric bills.  I would keep the property and sales tax exemptions for solar equipment.  And I will champion the Michigan Distributed Generation Program, allowing residents who generate their own electricity to sell their excess power back to the grid.

Working-class Michigan families struggle to pay for gas, groceries, and housing, while utilities raise rates each year.  Michiganders pay the highest utility bills in the Midwest for the worst service while DTE and Consumers Energy make record profits and receive generous tax breaks. Using dark money groups, corporations and big businesses across the state purchase influence with lawmakers so that they will write laws and regulations that benefit them.

If elected, I will support legislation to ban dark money from Michigan elections by requiring full disclosure of donors and prohibit corporations with either local or state contracts over $250,000 from making any political campaign contributions. 

My experience as the owner of Dragon Unity Martial Arts in Mason taught me how difficult it is for entrepreneurs to get a successful new business off the ground.  As a small business owner, I know our communities thrive when small businesses can develop and grow. The state government should expand the Small Business Alternative Credit, and Michigan should do more to promote resources such as the Michigan Small Business Development Center.

I also support business incentives that attract new industries to the mid-Michigan area.  We need to leverage Michigan State University's incredible resources to attract more research and development.

We need a diversified local economy with good-paying jobs and excellent public transit to retain our younger workers and secure the future of our region.

I will support efforts for PFAS clean up (such as the recently introduced “Hazardous Products Act”, HB 5890 - HB 5898), restoring Michigan's wetlands and rivers, holding big polluters accountable for environmental damage, and preserving the state's natural lands.  I will use my experience in the information technology field to draft legislation to regulate artificial intelligence and large-scale data centers, ensuring they benefit the people of Michigan and do not harm them. 

 The public should not have to pay for data centers’ energy or water use; the data center owners should pay.  I support a years-long statewide moratorium on all new large-scale data center development, and I would revisit Public Act 233 of 2023 to make it easier for communities to fight back against such unwanted projects. 

As a lifelong resident of mid-Michigan, I have seen the cost of living go up dramatically for district residents over the past several years. The costs to meet basic necessities have never been higher, while wages have stagnated for decades.

To combat housing inflation, I will support legislation such as the STOP Private Equity bills and the Mobile Home Commission Act reform bills from the current legislative session.  To fight high grocery prices, I would support legislation like the Grocery Price Gouging Prevention Act, a recently introduced bill package that would ban surge pricing for food and goods.

MSU is a critical part of our district and is an economic center for the 28th district.  Its research in agriculture and nuclear physics, along with several other graduate and international programs, has made it a globally recognized institution.  Now, state legislators want to strip MSU of millions of dollars in public funding.  

When I am senator, I will vote no on any legislation that seeks to take public funds away from the university.  As one of Michigan’s premier institutions of higher education, we also need to make sure that the people of Michigan continue to elect MSU Board of Trustees members.

Agriculture is Michigan’s second-largest industry and employs over 20% of the state's workforce, with Michigan being a top-growing state for several fruits and vegetables. As Senator, I will advocate for Michigan agriculture by working with farmers, industry leaders, and community groups to help strengthen supply chains so Michigan farmers can expand their market reach in the global marketplace. 

I will coordinate with state and federal programs and push incentives to help farmers manage setbacks in the industry caused by inflation, climate change, and other industry challenges. Furthermore, I will work with state, national, and international organizations to expand market access for Michigan’s agriculture industry.

As a two-decade employee of the Michigan State Police, I understand the importance of community safety and our criminal justice community.  I will fight for revenue-sharing with local communities so they can hire and retain public safety employees. Today the criminal justice system relies too heavily on incarceration for first time offenders; as a senator I will advocate for diversion programs that redirect those defendants into supportive services aimed at addressing the underlying causes of their behavior.

Also, I will support programs that allow for social workers and therapists to be on staff for medical, fire, and police departments, and I will push for more funding to compensate local law enforcement for their mental health service costs, as county jails are the number one providers of mental health services in the United States.
